Ted Hughes' 'Tales from Ovid' is a part translation, part poetic reimagining of twenty four tales from Ovid's Metamorphoses. Hughes' selections include Orpheus and Eurydice, Venus and Adonis, Echo, Narcissus and some less well known tales. In some ways, his renditions read less like translations and more like his own poetry at its visceral and imaginative best.
