A new variety of a much loved perennial, and stalwart of the cottage garden, Astrantia major 'Star of Passion', is a clump forming deciduous plant with handsome deeply cut foliage. From late spring, well into summer, pincushion-like umbels of starry flowers enclosed in deep maroon bracts are held high above the foliage on strong, fine stems.
